This week’s photo challenge topic, thought up by my lovely friend Cristina, is “What I like best about summer.” Here’s my dilemma though…I don’t, in fact, like summer all that much. It’s hot and uncomfortable, slightly boring, there are way too many out of school kids running around and messing with your vibe, and for some reason there’s always some ridiculous expectation about summer, like going somewhere far and exotic for vacation when all you really want to do is go back home and visit family. Plus, summer is usually tourist season and having a sudden influx of clueless yet cheery tourists holding up the coffee line at Starbucks is not something that makes me look forward to this season. I prefer cool, laidback autumns, cold, snuggly winters, and optimistic springs.
But now that I’ve gotten that little diatribe out of the way, here are a few of my favorite things about summer:
The beach
Cold ice cream on a very hot day
Losing 10 pounds through loss of body fluid alone
Holy crap! That last picture is hilarious! He looks like he enjoys summer just about as much as you do.:)

I totally agree. Summer is my least favorite time of the year. Yes I like the extra time with my dd but even that causes issues. She wants to be entertained almost 24/7 yet does not like the things I come up with to do.
What I like best about summer is my AC unit.
i’m with you cathy. i despite summer – especially here. 100% humidity, 90+ degree weather, it’s like living in a steam bath. and i don’t like steam baths. i LOVE cooler weather. anyway, despite that, you managed to put some great pics together. i love the last oe of noah. i just want to hug him.

Noah is so adorable, especially in that last photo. Sorry you don’t like summer, I love it when it’s super hot. I don’t think I’d care for the tourists though.
Yeah, I’m not so much a summer person either. In the winter, you can pile on additional layers to keep warm but in the summer, you can only peel back so many layers before your neighbors call the cops on you for indecent exposure. IMO, summer weather is only appropriate when you’re on vacation (preferable near a pool or a crisp blue ocean).
Poor kid! He looks like a plump, boiled tomato with hyper-color cheeks. And boy, does he looked P-O’ed! I happen to enjoy summer because I’m a wimp when it comes to cold weather (with snowboarding being the one exception when I endure freezing temperatures).
I love all those photos. Noah has good taste for ice cream! But that last photo…bless his heart, uncomfortable, too hot.
The beach pic is great, but nothing can top his expression in that last picture. True enough…a picture is worth 1000 words. I’m with Kate..his expression matches your early diatribe. Hilarious~
OMG, poor little Noah-lobster! I have a feeling Noah feels the same way Mommy does about summer. Ugh.
…. aaaaand this is why we aren’t meetin up in HK. That last picture reminds me of similar ones I have of Nevan from Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand. YUCK!
